The increase in production in June 2015 (compared to the same period of 2014) was due to the introduction into operation after a large-scale modernization of the blast furnace (blast furnace №4) with the installation of aspiration systems. Total investment in the project amounted to about 600 million USD.
Recall that the blast furnace №4 is equipped with a modern high-efficiency dust and gas cleaning plant, which provides dust concentration at the outlet of 20 mg/m3, corresponding to the strictest international standards. The aspiration systems working on blast furnace №4 reduce emissions by 25% of dust emissions from the plant. The reconstruction project of blast furnace №4 is part of a tripartite agreement signed between JSC "Zaporizhstal", the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, and Zaporizhzhya Regional Council.
