December 6, 2013 the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Oleg Proskuryakov had a working visit to JSC “Zaporizhstal”, where he got acquainted with the implementation of projects provided for the implementation of the Tripartite Agreement between the JSC “Zaporizhstal”, Zaporozhye Regional Council and the Ministry of Environment.
During the visit, Oleg Proskuryakov acquainted with the construction of large-scale environmental object – complex hydrochloric acid pickling cold rolling shop №1 JSC “Zaporizhstal”. Construction of a new pickling line is an important step in the modernization of the plant, provided by technological development strategy of the enterprises of Metinvest Group. Investment in the project of construction of the new line will be about 730 million UAH.
The General Director of “Zaporizhstal” Works Rostyslav Shurma said Minister about the comprehensive modernization of production facilities, taking into account the environmental component. “After commissioning of the continuous pickling line №4 provides a closed process without resetting an enabled water. As a result – reducing the number of sulfuric acid vapor emissions decreased by 83%. It is equally important that the construction of this unit and the installation of hydrochloric acid regeneration will completely eliminate the discharge of industrial water into the river. Dnepr “, – said Rostyslav Shurma.
During the visit, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine noted the large-scale modernization of production enterprises of Metinvest Group: “The tripartite agreement is executed sequentially combine. I would like to thank the investors for the fact that they do not just increase the production efficiency, but also do not forget about the environmental component of each new project. For industrial region is extremely important. For example, JSC “Zaporizhstal” I saw how socially and environmentally responsible investors can be “, – said Oleg Proskuryakov.
Recall from August 2012 at the plant JSC “Zaporizhstal” has already implemented major investment projects to modernize the environmental component – in May 2013 put into operation sinter machine №1 with high-tech gas cleaning equipment (investment in the project about 240 million USD.). In October 2013, JSC “Zaporizhstal” has signed a contract to build a gas treatment unit number 2 sintering machine, the project budget – about 80 million USD. From November 2013 JSC “Zaporizhstal” is implementing a large-scale reconstruction of blast furnace №4. The project envisages the construction of exhaust systems and casthouse Stock house assembling a furnace, the investment in reconstruction of BF-4 will be about 600 million UAH.
