Metinvest Group expands the geography of aid in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, the company’s steel mills supply oxygen to 14 Ukrainian regions.
“In October, when there was a shortage of oxygen on the market and coronavirus cases were on the rise, Metinvest Group started getting approached by doctors and executive authorities – all asking to help with oxygen. That’s why we set up an emergency response centre, developed an action plan together with the Ministry of Health and responded to all requests. This month the enterprises have supplied 1,740 tons of oxygen to hospitals,” says Oleksandr VISHNYAKOV, director of the Regional Development Department of Metinvest Group.
In November, steelmakers of Zaporizhstal, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works, Azovstal, and Dniprovskyi Coke Plant have been supplying up to 100 tons of oxygen to hospitals on a daily basis. One ton meets the needs of approximately one hundred patients.
The geography of such aid expands each week. Nowadays, it covers 14 Ukrainian regions. Lately, Metinvest has begun to supply oxygen to hospitals of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions. This will give even more Ukrainians a chance for successful recovery from COVID-19.
Health is valuable to everyone, irrespective of age, trade or place of living. Metinvest understands this and supports the healthcare system of Ukraine.
Overall, Metinvest supplies every fourth ton of oxygen to hospitals free of charge. Since the beginning of October, they have already received 3,161 tons.
