METINVEST PROPOSES TO SET UP ECOLOGICAL FUNDS FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF ECOLOGICAL PROJECTS.

Biggest in the Ukraine mining and smelting company Metinvest proposes to set up ecological funds, which will be filled up from ecological payments of industrial enterprises.

Such proposal was announced at the public hearing of the project of updated Strategy of state ecological policy of Ukraine for the period till 2020, which were held on July 30, 2015 in the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine.

So, on the account of ecological funds, it is proposed to finance the ecological projects, proceeding from the actual possibilities and priority projects.

«For the achieving of European ecological norms and standards, it is necessary to implement the updated European technologies. We implement in a consistent manner such program in production. During last two years, 2,25 Billion UAH was invested into ecological modernization of the Steel Works. But in complicated economic conditions, it is very difficult to continue such large scale program. We propose the specific efforts, in particular, to set up ecological funds, which would support and encourage the enterprises to implement the ecological projects”- said Inna Kholina, head of the management on environment control of “Zaporozhstal Steel Works.

It is planned to include this proposal into National plan of actions for the period 2016-2020. Discussions on the projects and proposals are planned till October 2015.

On the whole, within the framework of the project many interesting ideas were announced, specific proposals and changes in the strategy were submitted. At that, the Ministry emphasizes attention on the need to fill up the document by common sense:

«It is necessary to concentrate efforts at specific directions, to fill up the Strategy and program of national actions in the field of environmental control with practical sense. Relevance of ideas and proposals is very important,- said Sergey Kurykin Deputy minister of ecology and natural resources of Ukraine.
