Khortytsia island hosted a presentation of an exceptional interactive laser light show on 14 October 2021 to mark the City Day. Developed as part of the Khortitsa National Reserve Revival project under the national Big Construction programme, the initiative is based on the public-private partnership and enjoys support from the Office of the President of Ukraine, Zaporizhia Regional State Administration, and Metinvest Group.
“In partnership with the Government, Metinvest supports the rebirth of Khortytsia, adding new tourist attractions, both inclusive and modern, and preserving its historical heritage. The light show is a guide for the guests to the world of historical images and national symbols that uncover the Ukrainian identity,” Zaporizhstal CEO Oleksandr Myronenko underlined.
The permanent laser projection show offers the acoustic and visual design of historical images with their subsequent projection onto the slopes of the Unity Hill, the Dnieper rapids that protrude from the water near Khortytsia, and the sky above the island. Developed by Expolight, the idea is powered by an unmatched technology and a special software that enables every visitor to interact with the installation. Light QR codes located on the roof of the Museum of the History of Zaporizhia Cossacks allow visitors to download the application and launch short light installations on their own. The application offers options for a themed light show about Khortytsia symbols projected onto the sky, hill or rapids. In parallel, the guest’s smartphone displays historical information about the projected symbol. Thus, the installation both entertains and educates visitors. A major 10-minute Transformation through History show will be on three times every evening.
We remind that a large-scale revival of Khortytsia island started in Zaporizhia in 2021 as part of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s presidential programme, Big Construction.
