On September 3rd at Zaporizhstal JSC the Integrated Management System of Quality, Environmental Protection and Labour Safety in correspondence with the requirements of international standards ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:2006, OHSAS 18001:2007 started functioning. IMS was founded on the basis of the quality control system operating at the Works since 01.05.2003 according to international standards series ISO 9000. When projecting IMS Zaporizhstal specialists were consulted by representatives of “BUREAU VERITAS Ukraine” Ltd.
A big preparatory job was done before IMS was put into operation: Policy in the field of quality, environmental protection and labour safety was adopted, Zaporizhstal JSC strategic goals were determined, required documentation for successful functioning of IMS (quality, environmental protection and labour safety guidelines, standards of the Works, regulations) was worked out, records on environmental aspects and identification of dangers and evaluation of risks in departments were made out, a group of local IMS auditors was taught, joint local audits of the new System with specialists of “BUREAU VERITAS Ukraine” Ltd were carried out.
Readiness of IMS to be put into operation has been confirmed by the developer and advisor of the Integrated Management System of Quality, Environmental Protection and Labour Safety of “BUREAU VERITAS Ukraine” Ltd.
With the introduction of IMS a new stage of work starts, including effective functioning and improvement of the Management System in the field of quality, environmental protection and labour safety, and also preparation and successful carrying out of certified and compliance audit in the departments against the requirements of international standards. Already in September of the current year Zaporizhstal JSC has to pass pre-certification and in October – IMS certification audit.
The essence of the Integrated Management System of Quality, Environmental Protection and Labour Safety is expressed in this brief slogan “Prosperity and well-being of the Works via quality of the products without detriment to the health of the personnel and the environment”.
