In the Framework of the Ecological Action “Save the Dnieper Together!” 1200 Spawning Nests have been Installed in the Dnieper

In 2019, with the support of Zaporizhstal, the public organization Green Center Metinvest, Zaporizhzhia, together with the Ukrainian Society of Hunters and Fishermen, arranged master classes for children on the production of spawning grounds and established 1,200 spawning areas.

In April, the public organization Green Center Metinvest, Zaporizhzhia, together with representatives of the society of hunters and fishermen arranged environmental workshops for pupils of 18 secondary schools in the city. Children learned to create spawning nests from scrap materials, mastered the skills of sorting garbage in a game form, painted on an ecological theme and made a filter model for water.

In May, specialists of the Ukrainian Society of Hunters and Fishermen established 1,200 spawning grounds, including 100 made by schoolchildren, in the Dnieper River, in the bay near the Otradnoye settlement.

Artificial spawning grounds make it possible to create conditions for maximum preservation of fish roe during a variable hydrological regime in water bodies during the spring spawning period.

In 2018, the public environmental initiative “Save the Dnieper together!” of Zaporizhstal Works was entered into the Book of Records of Ukraine as the largest eco-campaign in Ukraine.
