On behalf of labor collective of the Iron and Steel Works, Rostislav Shurma has congratulated the Paralympians of Zaporozhye, recognizing their remarkable achievements and bravery in representing their country at the prestigious 14th Paralympic Games in London.

On the 26 of September 2012, in the track-and-field training ground of “Zaporizhstal,” JSC General Director of the Iron and Steel Works, Rostislav Shurma, met with sportsmen of Zaporozhye — participants of the national team of Ukraine during the 14th Paralympic Games in London. Rostislav Shurma has handed over to sportsmen-paralympians cash testimonials and declared that the Iron and Steel Works will give henceforth the maximum support to sportsmen and create as comfortable conditions as possible for their training and preparation for future competitions.

“I would like to thank you sincerely for your courage, that you have presented our country, our city, and our Iron and Steel Works at competitions with great dignity,” declared Rostislav Shurma. “I sincerely admire your will-power, your striving, and the strength you find within yourselves to pursue sports and achieve victories.”

As part of the Ukrainian picked team, the Zaporozhye area was represented by: Maria Pomazan (track and field athletics) with “gold” in shot put and “silver” in disc throwing; Alexey Fedin (swimming) with “gold” in 100 m breaststroke and “bronze” in 50 m freestyle; Victoria Savtsova (swimming) with “gold” in 100 m breaststroke; Alexey Pashkov (track and field athletics) with “silver” in disc throwing; Michael Popov (table tennis) with “bronze”; Raisa Toparkova (powerlifting) in 4th place; and Maxim Nikolenko (table tennis) in 4th place.
