Integrated Iron and Steel Works "Zaporizhstal" has started supplying rolled products to Metinvest Tubular Iaşi (Romania), which became part of the Group at the end of 2025. Since the beginning of 2026, the enterprise has shipped 22,000 tonnes of hot-rolled products made from structural steel grades certified according to the European standard EN 10025. It is planned to deliver up to 180,000 tonnes of rolled products this year.
"Zaporizhstal's rolled products are in demand among European and Ukrainian pipe manufacturers. Every year, up to 80% of our steel products are shipped for the manufacture of longitudinally welded pipes and sections. We are pleased to welcome Romanian colleagues to Metinvest Group and to establish a new format of cooperation to strengthen the economic partnership between Ukraine and Europe," said Taras Shevchenko, Acting General Director of Zaporizhstal, Hero of Ukraine.
Hot-rolled products made from killed structural steels are in demand in the tubular industry due to their mechanical properties, ensuring reliability and strength of finished products. These products withstand heavy loads, including impact loads, operate under pressure, are highly weldable, and maintain stable performance characteristics.
"Zaporizhstal's rolled products are used to manufacture round, shaped, and rectangular welded pipes that meet the requirements of EN 10219 and EN 10217. They are used in geothermal engineering, the energy sector, and the construction industry, including in fire protection systems. The pipes made of Zaporizhstal's steel have confirmed their full compliance with high standards during tests, so we are establishing long-term mutually beneficial cooperation with metallurgists from Zaporizhzhia," said Cosmin Toma, General Director of Metinvest Tubular Products Iaşi.
The largest consumers of pipes produced by Metinvest Tubular Products Iaşi are the Romanian domestic market, as well as companies from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and other European countries.
It is worth noting that in 2025, Zaporizhstal produced 3.5 million tonnes of pig iron, 3.2 million tonnes of steel, and 2.8 million tonnes of rolled products.
