During the night, Zaporizhzhia’s industrial site came under an enemy attack.
This is not the first time Metinvest has had to recover from destruction caused by hostile attacks. But there is one thing that no one can ever become accustomed to: the loss of human lives.
The ballistic strike caught employees on their way to the shelter immediately after the air raid alert was announced. Sadly, this terrorist attack took the lives of seven Zaporizhstal employees. Their deaths are a profound loss to their families, loved ones, and to all of us. Twenty-one of our colleagues were also injured. We are providing them with all the necessary aid and support. We remain in close contact with the families of those who were killed and injured, providing them with support and helping them through this extraordinarily difficult time.
Metinvest’s enterprises in Zaporizhzhia are civilian industrial facilities that provide employment for tens of thousands of people and produce steel and coke-chemical products.
As a result of the enemy attack, the power generation units and infrastructure of Metinvest’s enterprises in Zaporizhzhia were damaged, including the primary and auxiliary facilities of the coke-making and blast furnace production units. At present, operations at the steelworks have been completely suspended, while other production facilities are operating at reduced capacity. Specialists are currently assessing the consequences of the enemy attack, evaluating recovery options and timelines, and carrying out the necessary emergency repair works.
We would like to thank all plant functions, emergency responders and municipal services involved in addressing the consequences of the attack and providing assistance to those affected. We would like to thank everyone who is doing everything necessary to restore operations as quickly as possible.
