Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works has taken second place in Opendatabot's rating of Ukraine's best companies, in the "Processing industry" category.
Opendatabot, a service that monitors registration details of Ukrainian companies and the court register, has published its Index of Ukraine's Best Companies in 2025. The rating includes the largest companies by turnover with impeccable business reputations, notably nine enterprises of Metinvest Group.
Companies ranked among the best in four categories include: Zaporizhstal (No.2), Kamet-Steel (No.5), and Zaporizhcoke (No.7) in the "Processing industry" category, Pokrovske Colliery (No.3), Northern Iron Ore (No.5), Southern Iron Ore (No.7), and Central Iron Ore (No.10) in the "Mining industry" category, Metinvest-SMC (No.10) in the "Wholesale trade" category; and "Metinvest Holding" management company (No.2) in the "Processional, scientific and technical activity" category.
In compiling the Opendatabot's index for 2025, the service analysed both the financial statements for 2024 and business reputation of companies. In particular, sanctioned entities or businesses with owners from Russia were excluded from the list.
"The Opendatabot's index, built on financial statements and sales amount of companies, shows a comprehensive picture of what happened with Ukrainian business last year," commented Oleksii Ivankin, founder of Opendatabot.
It should be mentioned that the Opendatabot's index is an analytical tool that allows the current state and geography of Ukrainian businesses to be assessed. It is based on information from state registers, Opendatabot's registers, financial statements of companies, sources covering connections to Russia, sanctions lists, and Opendatabot's other analytical tools.
For reference, the enterprise produced 3.1 mln tonnes of iron, 2.9 mln tonnes of steel, and shipped over 2.4 mln tonnes of rolled products in 2024. Despite operating at up to 75% of its capacity, Zaporizhstal increased its tax payments by 35%. The tax and fees contributions from Zaporizhstal and other enterprises of Metinvest in Zaporizhzhia amounted to approximately UAH 3 billion.
