In 2024, Zaporizhstal, part of the Metinvest Group, carried out capital repairs on key production units and implemented investment projects in occupational safety, information technology, and social infrastructure. As part of the plant’s investment programme, the total investment amounted to UAH 938 million.
Among the major equipment upgrade projects completed in 2024 were repairs on blast furnaces No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4, with a total investment exceeding UAH 230 million. A similar amount was allocated for capital repairs of key rolling mill units.
The plant also completed capital repairs on two sintering machines, including an overhaul of environmental protection equipment. Additionally, several digitalisation projects were implemented to modernise production processes and IT infrastructure. Every year, the company invests in improving working conditions for employees: in 2024, it completed major renovations of two welfare facilities and installed two new modular sanitary units.
“The primary focus of Zaporizhstal’s capital investment programme is ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of production equipment and its treatment facilities. A fully operational plant means jobs for skilled professionals, increased exports and foreign exchange earnings, contributions to the state budget, and support for the local community. Despite the challenging economic conditions, Zaporizhstal has been steadily increasing its capital investments in production during the war: in 2022, investments totalled UAH 500 million, in 2023 – UAH 750 million, and in 2024 – UAH 938 million. The capital investment budget for 2025 is set at UAH 1.1 billion, and we are already implementing the first planned projects,” said Taras Shevchenko, General Director of Zaporizhstal and Hero of Ukraine.
In 2025, Zaporizhstal is going to overhaul blast furnace No. 3, two sintering machines, BTLС-1680 and Slabbing-1150 mills, heating wells, and BTA-4 line. Additionally, it will modernise the rolling production facilities, refurbish the steelmaking shop’s welfare premises and the water supply shop, as well as implement several other projects.
