Zaporizhstal held its annual employee conference to review the implementation of the company’s 2024 collective agreement. The plant successfully fulfilled all fundamental provisions of the agreement, which form the backbone of the company’s social policy.
Despite the challenging conditions caused by russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Zaporizhstal focused on supporting its workforce, mobilized employees, war veterans, and their families. At the same time, the company continued to provide substantial aid to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including through numerous charitable initiatives led by the plant’s volunteer movement.
One of the key initiatives was the ongoing implementation of the corporate program “Hero’s Path: Veteran Reintegration Ecosystem.” As part of the program, more than 300 war veterans joined the company’s workforce following demobilization. Upon returning from the front lines, veterans receive comprehensive medical examinations, psychological support, treatment and prosthetics, professional retraining, mentorship, and free education at Metinvest Polytechnic – all funded by the company. Support projects for veterans and their families were implemented, including Unbreakable Mother, the Free Waves rehabilitation program, and Communicate. Veteran.
In 2024, Zaporizhstal also successfully held a series of corporate events promoting intellectual, athletic, professional, and social engagement. Notably, the 48th Annual Youth Scientific and Technical Conference brought together 55 young specialists from across the company.
As part of its healthcare policy, the plant guaranteed free voluntary medical insurance and services for its employees. In addition, employees and their family members received supplementary insurance coverage totaling over UAH 5.6 mln. A further UAH 6.4 mln was allocated to medical services and medication reimbursement for retired employees.
In May 2024, the company launched its First Job program, offering young professionals an additional motivational bonus of UAH 50 ths during their first year of employment at the plant.
To support young families, Zaporizhstal introduced a new initiative that provides financial assistance to employees upon the birth of a child or upon their first marriage — to one or both spouses if they are both employed at the plant. Nearly 100 employees received financial support totaling over UAH 660 ths.
The company also continued the large-scale corporate program Workplace Comfort, aimed at improving the day-to-day working conditions for steelworkers. In 2024, two sanitation and hygiene facilities underwent major renovations, and two new modular sanitation units were installed. In total, 1,600 square meters of staff facilities were renovated, benefitting 500 employees. Investments in the program exceeded UAH 23 mln.
