On the 11th of April the chairman of Zaporozhye regional state administration Valeriy Baranov visited “Zaporizhstal” JSC, with the purpose to study the economy and production activities of the plant. During the visit, the General Director Rostyslav Shurma acquainted the chairman of Zaporozhye regional state administration with the objects of reconstruction BF No.4 and construction of the new pickling line in the Cold Rolling Mill -1.

Valyriy Baranov also learned the production of the plant and observed the immensity of the modernization projects, which have been extensively realized at the plant as a part of ecological modernization program of Metinvest Group steel plants. There are three large-scale projects, which are planned to be accomplished this year. Among the projects – building of the hydrochloric pickling line in the Cold Rolling Mill No.1, which will help to reduce the discharge of industrial water to the river Dnieper to 83% and to reduce the emission of vapor of the hydrochloric acid. Project investments are about 730 mln. UAH. The plant also effects the reconstruction of the Blast Furnace No. 4 with the equipping aspiration systems of the casting yard and stock house of the furnace (the investments are about 600mln UAH) and building gas purifying plant for the sinter machine No.2 (investments are about 80 mln. UAH).

“I want to thank the plant for good job in such difficult conditions, which exist now in Ukraine. I am very glad that you have such a good work collective, who have strategically thinking and every day makes another step for improvement of the plant’s work to the direction of ecological safety” – stated the chairman of Zaporozhye regional state administration Valeriy Baranov.

“The plant carries on its stable and steady work. Despite the crisis situation in Ukraine, we keep the production and economic indexes on high level. “Zaporizhstal” makes a contribution in stability of domestic economy, in its further development. Improvement of the ecology, reduction of environmental impact on the region- is our duty to the citizens of Zaporozhye region”, – emphasized the General Director of the Integrated Iron and Steel Works “Zaporizhstal” Rostyslav Shurma.

It bears reminding that from January till May 2014, Integrated Iron and Steel Works “Zaporizhstal” increased output production for 4,5 % in comparison with the same period of the year 2013. In addition to the above mentioned, the plant reduced the consumption of the natural gas to 18 % in the 1 qtr. of 2014 (during the1 quarter 2013 the consumption of the natural gas was 75,4 mln.m3, during the 1 quarter 2014- 61,6 mln.m3)
