Zaporizhstal Workers Donated 34 Liters of Blood to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Blood Service Center

The coronavirus pandemic could not stop the good tradition of metallurgists to attend the Donor Days, which are held at Zaporizhstal several times a year.

This month, the day of blood collection was passed with the observance of all precautions: volunteers came in masks and had their temperature measured before starting the procedure.

Among the employees of the Works there are those who donate blood on a regular basis, honorary donors, as well as workers who come to the collection point for the first time. For Yuri Nagailik, a locksmith of the open-hearth furnace shop, this Donor Day became the second one:

– For the second time I already participate in the Donor Day. The first time I was offered to donate blood in the trade union committee. I passed, and now I continue, I want it to become a tradition, – said Yuri Nagailik. – Before passing I stick to a diet – I don’t eat fatty, fried foods. This is not difficult. They check us in the first-aid post. We take finger blood tests, measure blood pressure – everything in general takes about two hours, because there are a lot of people. It is very important to donate blood: it will be useful to someone, it will save lives. You never know when and who will get into an accident, where they will suffer.

This time Zaporizhstal workers managed to collect 34 liters of blood, which will be sent to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Blood Service Center. Totally in just a year, the Zaporizhstal Works collects about 700 liters of blood, which is 1400 doses.
