On December 14, a solemn meeting of representatives of the city public organization, regional organizations of veterans and disabled people of Chernobyl, representatives of city and regional councils took place in the cultural center Orbita.
The meeting was dedicated to honoring the participants in the liquidation of Chernobyl accident, which is celebrated every year on December 14.
– Today we honor the Day of Liquidator. We gathered here to express our gratitude and honor to those people who gave us today’s life at the cost of their own lives, their own health, – said the representative of Zaporizhstal, city council member Igor Chumachenko. He also presented gifts to the liquidators from Zaporizhstal Steel Works.
– Back in 1986, they went to war. At war with the Chernobyl monster. For them, it was a war against such an enemy who was invisible. Therefore, even more insidious, – said in interview Igor Chumachenko. – And so today the liquidators, their relatives, friends, colleagues, who lost their health, lives of their relatives, gathered in this hall. From Zaporizhstal and Metinvest Group we arranged, as we do every year, gifts on the eve of the Day of Liquidator and on the New Year eve. We came to congratulate those people to whom we are obliged to live. These are really our heroes
