Ukrainian Doctors Received 140 Oxygen Concentrators from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FUIB

On December24, the Kharkiv Regional Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital received six modern oxygen concentrators from the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FUIB. Another 15 units of this equipment were transferred to the Sumy Children’s Clinical Hospital of St. Zinaida, the multidisciplinary hospital No. 17 in Kharkiv and the Poltava clinical hospital No. 5.

“In total, in December, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FUIB purchased and already handed over 140 oxygen concentrators to 27 hospitals in different regions of Ukraine. The equipment was presented within the framework of the project “Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine”. Earlier, the Foundation, FUIB, FC Shakhtar and businesses of the SCM group delivered more than 200 high-class ventilators, 200 thousand units of personal protective equipment and consumables, 337 thousand express tests and over 1000 units of medical and laboratory equipment to state hospitals,” said Natalia Yemchenko, a member of the Supervisory Board of the Foundation.

Andrey Evseev, deputy manager of the FUIB regional center in Kharkiv, said that modern equipment, which had been transferred by the Foundation and SCM businesses, helped in saving lives.”

“Everyone’s life is precious! Therefore, we continue to support hospitals in the tough fight against COVID-19. It is important that after the end of the coronavirus pandemic, the equipment will contribute to the effective treatment of other diseases,” added Andrey Evseev.

Pavel Nartov, Chief physician of the Kharkiv Regional Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, thanked the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FUIB for their help:

“Today in our hospital there are patients with moderate and severe disease. Until the coronavirus recedes, we constantly need adequate supplies of medicines, equipment, oxygen, personal protective equipment and disinfectants. I am grateful to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FUIB for six powerful oxygen concentrators. They will help us to take care about Kharkiv residents on a high level treatment.”

Oxygen concentrators are vital equipment for the treatment of coronavirus patients. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and FUIB provide doctors with 10-litre KSOC-5 oxygen concentrators manufactured by “Jiangsu Konsung Bio-Medical Science and Technology Co. Ltd.” This model can simultaneously supply oxygen to two patients who need oxygen support during COVID-19 treatment. Such safe and energy-efficient oxygen concentrators will also be useful for doctors after the pandemic is over. They can be used in treatment of not only the respiratory system’s diseases, but also diseases of the cardiovascular and cerebral vascular systems, as well as during hypoxia

For efficient work, the Foundation created the project Fighting COVID-19 in Ukraine, which became part of the program Rinat Akhmetov – Saving Lives. The project is unprecedented for the country. This is the largest-scale and most systematic private initiative aimed at helping public healthcare facilities in the fight against COVID-19.
