Zaporizhstal is implementing a program to install energy-efficient LED lighting at the territory and in the workshops of the enterprise. Instead of luminaires with sodium lamps, the Steel Works switches to modern energy-efficient LED luminaires (LED luminaires have a lifespan of more than 45 thousand hours). The Steel Works allocated about UAH 4 million for the implementation of the project.
At the first stage, the old lighting devices were replaced by LEDs in the oxygen compressing and blast furnace shop. Annual electricity consumption decreased by 730 thousand kW/h. The savings amounted to about UAH 1.2 million.
In 2019, LED luminaires were installed in the Steelmaking Shop and Hot Strip Rolling Shop, with lighting modernization continuing along the main roads of the Steel Works. Old luminaires with a power of 250W were replaced with 120W LED lamps, which consume a minimum amount of electricity and provide good visibility in the dark.
Under the project, about 100 new supports were assembled and 170 LED lamps were installed. Additional supports and luminaires were installed in previously low illuminated places. The expected economic effect will amount to more than UAH 450,000.
